Why I love cinnamon:

Why I love cinnamon:  Who doesn't love a perfectly brewed cappuccino or latte with that lovely sprinkle of cinnamon on top?  You’ll be happy to know that your daily cinnamon fix comes with a health perk.  Clinical studies have shown that cinnamon lowers blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).  The good news is that you do not need very much.  One study (Diabetes Care, 2003) showed that cinnamon was effective at the lowest level tested (1g).  Best of all, the efficacy was sustained for weeks after treatment was discontinued.  This is a very good thing since cinnamon can be toxic at high doses.  This same study also showed a significant reduction in total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL ("bad") cholesterol.  This bodes well for all those apple pie lovers.
